My whole point was don't treat these people as if they are martyr's when we know nothing about them...I don't care about these people don't try to spoon feed me the fact that they are heroes...we don't know what was going through their heads or what kind of people they were...and I believe you followed it with don't watch it...
i agree that *we* (as humans) have the tendency
to capapult victims of a henious crime into
matryrdom.... hell, it doesn't even have to be
a victim of a henious crime.
i understand (i think) that wes is saying that
we should keep a certain perspective towards the
victims.... maybe not consider them 'untouchable
angels' or something like that... but just
acknowledge the fact that they were victims of
a henious crime and leave it at that.
*we* (as humans) have a desperate need to pedestalize
people who have lost their lives *prematurely*
without any true cause of their own.... this is
true of alot of celebrities that have died in
*accidential* ways (plane crashes, assassinations,
etc).... we feel the need to 'give them' some
mental *apology* on behalf of the rest of the
human race -- that we are sorry we have propigated
such devils as those capable of taking the lives
of others.
in a recent parallel, john ritter will never
achieve the same *death* status as john denver...
simply because john denver was an 'accidental'
death.
but this is all typical based on human psyche
justifications...... so its not really worth its
weight in gold. just one idea surfacing over another.
incidentally, jason and i were discussing a
similar angle last night in regards to the victims
of the 9/11 attacks.....
in which i felt that out of everyone, the *true*
victims were the passengers on the airplanes....
as they were surely aware of their deaths coming...
while everyone else was just oblivious.
and as for the tampon comment.....
